Chely Pina - General Manager
Chely has been with us as a bookkeeper for 6 years and is now the General Manager. Chely is also in charge of running Driftwood Catering. In her spare time Chely enjoys spending time with her family. She has three children; Michael who is 22, Jenn who is 20, and Diana who is 17. Both Jenn and Diana will be working in the snack bar this year. Chely is glad to be back with her new title and new responsibilities. Please stop by and chat anytime. Chely is bilingual so if you'd like to stop by and chat in Spanish you are more than welcome!
Lisa Somma - Snack Bar Manager
Lisa Somma earned her Associates of Culinary Arts, as well as her Bachelor of Hospitality Management from New York City Technical College. Lisa trained in Northern Italy at the Italian Culinary Institute, following up this training by working in two restaurants in Italy. Upon return to the United States, Lisa worked at the 21 Club in Manhattan, then taking a position as sous chef in Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Following her tenure in Resorts, Lisa became chef/owner of Soho Restaurant in Long Branch, NJ and now owns Villa Somma, Italian Specialty Store and Catering, in Holmdel, NJ. For the past ten years, Lisa has also worked as a Culinary Arts teacher at Collier High School in Wickatunk, NJ.
Fallon Quiles - Swim Coach
Fallon has swam competitively for the past fifteen years. During her swimming career,
she swam for Manalapan High School competing in the 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle.
She then continued onto college competing for Seton Hall University in the 50 and 100 freestyle, individual and relay events.
Fallon graduated from Seton Hall with her teaching certification in Elementary and Special Education. She currently teaches
at Old Bridge High School. Also after graduation Fallon began coaching for Eastern Express swim team, focusing on stroke
technique and race strategy for ages 9-13. After two years she was then hired by Marlboro High School to be the assistant
coach of the boys and girls swim team. After one season she then became the head coach and will be going into her third season this
fall. Fallon is very excited to be coaching at the Driftwood Beach Club this summer.
Michael Monahan - Swim Instructor
Michael has been involved in the endurance sport world for well over 11 years. As a youth growing up on the Jersey Shore, Michael competed at both a local and national level in swimming, running and various other sports. During his college career as a swimmer at University Of Hawaii Mike also competed in triathlon, national/world lifeguard competitions and open water swimming receiving multiple top 3 finishes in all the above.
As an age group triathlete, Michael has competed in over 13 Ironman triathlon competitions, 2 Half-Ironman and 15 marathons. These experiences as an athlete, combined with a B.S. in Exercise Science and a personal training certification give Michael a very strong coaching background. Currently Michael is employed as a police officer in City Of Long Branch NJ assigned to the street crimes unit and in charge of the water safety team and the police explorer program. Michael also trains Miltie-sport and swimming athletes for various competitions. As a husband and the father of a beautiful 21 month old girl (Already Swimming) Mike loves spending time with family and coaching various youth athletes. As a swim and multi-sport coach he is interested in working with athletes of all ages and ability/goal levels.
Brian Shea - Triathlon & Running Team Coach
Brian Shea comes to the Driftwood Cabana Club with a wealth of experience in endurance sports as an athlete, coach and consultant. For over 20 years, he has competed in all levels of endurance sports from 5K to 50-mile Ultra-Marathons to the Ironman Hawaii Triathlon with a 9:31 Personal Best. Brian has also run a 2:49 NYC Marathon which he hopes to improve this Fall.
On the coaching/consulting side, Brian is the President and Head Coach of Personal Best Nutrition, specializing in training and sports nutrition programs for athletes ranging from beginners to Olympians. Among those athletes are Ironman 70.3 World Champions Terenzo Bozzone & Julie Dibens; 5x World Champion Simon Lessing; Ironman Canada/Arizona Champion Jordan Rapp; 5x Ironman Champion Heather Gollnick and many more….
When he's not training others, Brian keeps busy chasing around his 6-year old son Jude and 5-year old daughter Mia. Along with many of their friends from Driftwood, Jude and Mia will be participating in their 1st kids-triathlon this Summer!
